BuildReady Blueprint
A standalone renovation planning package for Comox Valley homeowners — walk away with a written scope, budget direction, and a clear path forward, before you commit to a build.
Fully Insured | Locally Operated
The most expensive place to plan a renovation is inside a signed contract
Every renovation starts with the same questions.
What will this actually cost?
What's possible in this house?
What don't we know yet?
The usual way to get those answers is to pick a contractor and commit. A free estimate can price a project you've already defined — but it can't define one. When the scope is still full of open questions, the real answers arrive after the deposit, inside a project that was never fully planned.
That's where budgets break.
Every unknown discovered after signing becomes a change order, a delay, or a bigger number you're already committed to. Getting answers that way can cost tens of thousands.
The BuildReady Blueprint is that planning stage, offered on its own. For a flat fee, we define your renovation — the plan, the budget direction, and the unknowns — before you commit to building anything, with anyone.
What is the BuildReady Blueprint?
The BuildReady Blueprint is the first planning stage of our renovation process, offered as a standalone step before construction begins.
We walk through your home, organize your ideas, identify the unknowns, and turn the project into a clear written plan with budget direction and next steps.
If you move ahead with Clarity Contracting within 6 months, your Blueprint fee is credited toward the project.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Google Review
"Clarity Contracting listens. As a woman who has had her fair share of dealings with contractors who were dismissive of my questions and comments, I found dealing with this contracting firm refreshing and wonderful. He listened to my ideas, gave me options, and was a joy to work with. My husband was a bit nervous about budget. They took the time to confirm costs and kept our work on budget, making us aware of any changes that might happen before proceeding. A rare quality among contractors, believe me."

"We hired Clarity Contracting for a major renovation after meeting with several companies. From the start, Clarity Contracting was not only the most detailed in the quote but the most committed to the success of the project. There were a few bumps along the way, but they worked through them with us, ensuring we were always on the same page. Any concerns we had were quickly addressed and we ended up with a gorgeous result."

Questions worth asking
What's the difference between a free estimate and the BuildReady Blueprint?
The Blueprint is the planning work no free estimate includes, offered as its own service — hours of measurement, pricing research, and thinking that produce a written plan you keep. The contingencies, the options, the unknowns, the budget direction: worked out and written down, by a contractor who isn't mid-pitch. We offer free estimates too, for projects that are already defined. The Blueprint is for projects that aren't. Start wherever your project actually is.
Is the BuildReady Blueprint a fixed quote?
No — it's a plan with budget direction, not a locked price. It defines the project so that a firm quote becomes possible. If you build with us, the Blueprint is what our detailed quote is built from.
What kinds of projects is this for?
How do I compare contractor quotes apples-to-apples?
Define the project before anyone prices it — that's the only way quotes come back comparable. Estimates land thousands of dollars apart because each contractor fills the undefined parts differently: different assumptions about scope, finish level, trades, and what's excluded. The fix is giving every contractor the same defined project — written scope, direction on selections, known conditions. That's what the BuildReady Blueprint produces. Take it to any builder you want quotes from, including us, and the numbers that come back will finally be describing the same job.
What should I expect from a free estimate?
A visit, a conversation, and an educated guess — that's the free part. A contractor walks the space, talks through what you want, and gives you a number, simply and with a range. On defined work — a window package, a deck, a door swap — that guess can be accurate, and we offer free estimates for exactly those projects. But for a renovation that's still a set of ideas, the number can't include a plan: no selections, no trade pricing confirmed, no material counts, no likely impediments flagged, no unknowns worked out. And that's fair — no contractor puts hours of planning work into a number for a project that isn't defined yet, and none should. A free estimate prices a defined project. It can't define one.
What if I don't build with Clarity Contracting?
What happens to the $2,500 if I do build with you?
It's credited toward your project — the full amount — if you move ahead with Clarity Contracting within 6 months. If you build with us, the full BuildReady Blueprint fee is applied to your construction project.
Is this the same as hiring a designer?
No. A designer plans how the space looks. The Blueprint plans how the project gets built — the trades involved, the sequence, flags the unknowns, and what it realistically costs. Most clients come to us with a good idea of what they want; our experience fills in the gaps and leads to well-planned, functional spaces. If you want to bring a designer into the conversation, we welcome it. We're a contractor, not a design firm — the Blueprint is planning, not decorating.
